API A2D 2Ch Mic-Pre w/ Digi IO
The API A2D is a dual microphone with a built in A/D converters,a first for an API product. It was developed after API recognised the need for an all in one, high quality, Pre-amp and A/D converter combo with a variety of sample rate and clocking options.
With the API A2D precise control over both preamp gain and the converter feed level allows you to keep your audio clean or drive them to push the transformer into saturation for that classic API sound.
The A2D analog section features two incredible API 312 mic preamps with a level control pot featuring a 20-segment metering system showing precise mic gain levels. Control switches include polarity,48v phantom power, input pad,2:1 transformer routing,and Mic/Line select. Each pre-amp contains a balanced low-level XLR connector and a high-level 1/4 inch jack line input.
The API A2Ds Digital section includes two level pots to adjust the feed to the A/D converters, with precise level setting facilitated by a 20-segment calibrated meter. A multi-position switch selects the desired sample frequency and an External Sync LED lets you see when an external clock signal is used.
A balanced A¼ TRS insert is provided with the A/D converter,allowing external analog processing devices,such as equalizers and compressors, to be inserted into the audio chain (EQ, compression,etc.)
Digital interface connectors provided are SPDIF single ended RCA connector and AES digital out on XLR. A coaxial BNC accepts external Super Clock which will illuminate the front panel EXT SYNC LED when locked.
Multiple units can be linked together by means of 9-pin D-sub connectors.
