The Benchmark MPA1s input stage maximizes the signal to noise ratio by providing high-voltage headroom and a single-stage gain control. By utilizing precision-matched,low-noise, transistor quad-arrays the noise has been kept to a minimum across the whole gain range. The superb headroom offered by the MPA1 is achieved by using a servo-controlled circuit, which also minimizes DC offset. The low-frequency performance of the MPA1 is kept pure with an innovative dual-capacitor AC-coupling design,removing the limitations set in place by a single-capacitor AC-coupling design. The result is an exceptionally low corner-frequency with unparalleled subsonic phase-accuracy.
The Benchmark MPA1s gain is controlled via a front mounted 38-position,switched resistor ladder,set up in a continuously rotating orientation via relay control, offering 2 dB per step,0-74 dB of gain without attenuation,and inter-channel gain precision of +/- 0.03 dB. The make-before break techniques used provide a silent switching circuit.
