Fluid Audio's staggerlingly good F5 studio monitors have been rated as one of the top 12 best buys in monitors currently available. At just £199.00 per pair these monitors definitely out-perform their price point. We at Millennium have had lots of fantastic comments about the F5 and have decided to switch their purchase from (perhaps) better known brands in favour of the F5.
It's very difficult to choose your studio monitors without hearing them and even then there's no guarantee that they're going to "work" for you in the space you have. But the essentials are not to have too much bass becuase you will not realise if your mix is bass-lite! And also make sure the mid rage is very clear, as this is where most of the sound is coming from and this is where you have to manage the stereo imaging of your tracks but also and more importantly the placement of the vocal in the mix.
We have found that the Fluid Audio F5 deliver very well on these counts and so are very worthy of their recent accolade. If you want more info or advice on studio monitoring then not give us a call or email us here at Millennium Music.

Those Swedes have done it again! Just when you thought Propellorhead's Reason DAW software couldn't get any better - Reason 7 comes along.
Reason is the go to music production software for the creative musician who likes the freedom to work just how they want to and not be constrained by the limitations of their DAW. Reason 7 has everything you need to create, record and craft your final mixes to an incredible standard without resorting to single audio source outside of your computer (except your voice of course!) From top to tail reason has all the instruments, effects and tools you need to produce amazing-sounding recordings!
Work as deep within Reason as you want to, there's no need to get buried in technicalities if, at first you just want to record a few tracks. Once you get used to Reason's AMAZING working environment you can delve deeper and find more and more creative tools that will take your music to the next level and beyond.
With a huge array of sounds at your disposal you can create anything from a hard-core techno stomp to a delicate string-quartet minuet and create the ambience to go with it. Reason's on-screen workspace lets you always concentrate on being creative. Everything is in plain view for you to see and use. Rather than having to trawl through endless menus everything is right there!
Reason is flexible. With Reason's legendary non-destructive time stretch, you record your audio first and then select the tempo later. Reason can slice-up audio tracks into notes or stabs. You can use Reason to time-correct an audio take, to tweak your timing to robotic perfection or create swings and looser-feeling rhythms to get that more organic feel. The chopped audio can be imported in Reason's excellent sampler for more sound-enhancement or even assigned to drum pads in the Kong Drum Designer.
Reason 7 contains a full featured studio grade mixing console which is faithfully modelled from the SSL 9000k, a mixing console of incredible pedigree which has practically dominated the very top-end of the music-recording world since the 1980's. It has a full arsenal of dynamics, EQ and effects on every channel, so that you can craft each instrument or voice exactly how you want it and then when your mix is sounding like it couldn't be any better. You can put it through the master bus compressor which, like no other master compressor on the planet, can take any mix and make it sound AMAZING. They say it glues the mix together whilst still retaining all the dynamics of your work it gives shine and punch that makes it leap out of the speakers and get your listeners' attention immediately.
Reason 7 is a truly amazing piece of software that MUST form part of ANY musician's computer-based music creation toolbox.
