SE Electronics have come a long way since their creation just a mere 12 years ago and in that time they have left a lasting impression on artists, engineers and producers world-wide with their vast range of hand-built SE Microphones and SE Reflexion Filters, along with their latest collaborations with the likes of the legendary Rupert Neve, which led to the creation of the groundbreaking SE Electronics RNR1 Ribbon Microphone, and acoustic guru Andy Munro to bring us the revolutionary SE Electronics Munro Egg 150 studio monitoring system.

Originally the brainchild of Siwei Zou, SE Electronics’ aim has always been to provide handcrafted transducer technology comparable to the finest microphones in pro-audio history, such as the Neumann U87 and AKG’s C12, but instead at a price that amateur and professionals alike can easily enjoy.  With everything hand-crafted by a highly skilled workforce within their own Chinese-based facilities, SE Electronics utilizes the best materials and the highest manufacturing standards to deliver astonishingly good microphones (each of which contain their own proprietary SE Electronics capsules), along with acoustic treatment and now even studio monitors with the SE Electronics Munro Egg 150 system.

However, as impressive as SE Electronics’ technical pedigree is, along with their desire to accommodate budgets of all sizes, we at Millennium Music also pride ourselves in offering our customers peace of mind with the SE Electronics 20 year limited warranty.  That means that when you buy any SE Electronics’ products from Millennium Music, such as the new standard-setting SE Electronics X1 Condenser Microphone, the incredibly useful SE Electronics Reflexion Filter Pro, or even the industry-favoured SE Electronics SE4400A Condenser Microphone, you can be sure to stay at ease if the unfortunate event of your SE Electronics product experiencing a manufacturing defect should ever arise within not just 1, or 5, or even 10, but 20 years of original purchase.

This incredible offer is the best warranty for any pro-audio microphone in the world and is a real investment for anyone in this penny-pinching climate.  Be sure to take full advantage and see the wide selection of SE Electronics products here at Millennium Music.

One of the most important, but quite often ignored, elements of your studio environment is the acoustics. The subject of acoustics relates to how sound reacts in your room and is governed by the dimensions and reflectivity of it.

The dimensions of your room will determine the standing waves that occur within, causing peaks and troughs in frequency response and varying locations around your room, causing potentially massive errors in your mixing judgement. These can be stopped by means of  diffusion and/or absorption.

Your walls and the objects within your room cause the aforementioned reflections which can also have a great effect on your the accuracy of your listening environment, with the main issue being the first reflections, the route to your ears via 1 surface. The short time difference between the direct sound and the first reflections can cause massive phase issues based on the same principles as standing waves, and again, these can be dealt with by means of diffusion and/or absorption.

The final issue with your room is reverb time, which ideally should be around 0.3 seconds. If your room is too reverberant, then you wont add as much reverb as might be necessary, creating an overly dry mix. The opposite is true too, if you mix in an overly dead room you may overcompensate and create an overly reverberant mix. This can be controlled by means of absorption.

Taking this all into account, it seems silly to spend your hard earned money on monitors when the room they will be sitting in, won't do them justice.

Here at Millennium we know about all these issues, and to solve them, we always utilise and recommend Universal Acoustic's acoustic treatment.

They have created a wide range of acoustic treatment packages for a variety of different studio environments and budgets, from the entry level Pluto package to the whopping Mercury 6 package, they will have a package tailored to you, improving the reverb time, stereo imaging and monitoring accuracy of your room.

A popular choice is the Universal Acoustics Mercury 1 Package, which features 20 Mercury Wedges, perfect for taming an overacting room, 2 Mercury Bass Traps, ideal for controlling the low end information, and 2 Tubes Colle Cosmic Fluid to attach the treatment to your walls. Plenty of treatment to turn your unruly project studio into a much more controlled a accurate monitoring environment.

In addition to these packages use in Recording and Broadcast Studios, they are ideal for  Music Rehearsal Rooms, Audio and language labs, Boardrooms, offices, Staff rooms, Gymnasiums and any open spaces that require efficient sound absorption to improve the audio integrity and intelligibility plus the performance and dynamics of the room.
