SE Electronics have come a long way since their creation just a mere 12 years ago and in that time they have left a lasting impression on artists, engineers and producers world-wide with their vast range of hand-built SE Microphones and SE Reflexion Filters, along with their latest collaborations with the likes of the legendary Rupert Neve, which led to the creation of the groundbreaking SE Electronics RNR1 Ribbon Microphone, and acoustic guru Andy Munro to bring us the revolutionary SE Electronics Munro Egg 150 studio monitoring system.

Originally the brainchild of Siwei Zou, SE Electronics’ aim has always been to provide handcrafted transducer technology comparable to the finest microphones in pro-audio history, such as the Neumann U87 and AKG’s C12, but instead at a price that amateur and professionals alike can easily enjoy.  With everything hand-crafted by a highly skilled workforce within their own Chinese-based facilities, SE Electronics utilizes the best materials and the highest manufacturing standards to deliver astonishingly good microphones (each of which contain their own proprietary SE Electronics capsules), along with acoustic treatment and now even studio monitors with the SE Electronics Munro Egg 150 system.

However, as impressive as SE Electronics’ technical pedigree is, along with their desire to accommodate budgets of all sizes, we at Millennium Music also pride ourselves in offering our customers peace of mind with the SE Electronics 20 year limited warranty.  That means that when you buy any SE Electronics’ products from Millennium Music, such as the new standard-setting SE Electronics X1 Condenser Microphone, the incredibly useful SE Electronics Reflexion Filter Pro, or even the industry-favoured SE Electronics SE4400A Condenser Microphone, you can be sure to stay at ease if the unfortunate event of your SE Electronics product experiencing a manufacturing defect should ever arise within not just 1, or 5, or even 10, but 20 years of original purchase.

This incredible offer is the best warranty for any pro-audio microphone in the world and is a real investment for anyone in this penny-pinching climate.  Be sure to take full advantage and see the wide selection of SE Electronics products here at Millennium Music.

The drum kit, one of the most complicated and daunting recording tasks presented to an engineer, it's sound can make or break a recording, a powerful, full drum sound can drive a song along, and, complemented by a good bass sound, be a great foundation on which to build.

A wide range of drum micing kits have been brought together by companies such as AKG, Samson, Shure, Superlux, Audio Technica etc. that make this daunting task much easier, creating consistency in drum tones throughout your micing, making the individual elements sit together better in a mix. Kits can range from tom/snare/kick ensembles, to full kits inclusive of Overhead microphones, Hi-hat microphones and extra mics for those with an extended percussive palates.

First up is the all encompassing Wharfedale KMD7 7 Piece Drum Mic Set, which features 4 KMD5 Dynamic microphones ideal for toms and the snare drum, a KM4 dynamic microphone with an exceptional low end response and high spl tolerance, both qualities perfect for kick drum micing. The set is completed by a pair of KM3s, small diaphragm condensers that are ideal for overheads or other instruments that require a detailed transient response. This package is housed is a durable carry case, keeping everything neat and tidy and making it ideal for travelling sound engineers and recording studios alike.

Next up in both quality and price is the AKG Rhythm Pack, that, just like the Wharfedale package includes everything you need to mic up a full drum kit, albeit a 4 piece kit instead of 5. A sure fire benefit of this kit is the industry standard AKG D112 kick drum mic, used by engineers all around the world session after session. Overhead duties are dealt with by their C430 SDCs and the toms and snare are looked after by their rugged and transient rich D 40 dynamic microphones. Overall this is a solid microphone kit that holds its own against most others available on the market.

The Shure DMK57 set provides top quality microphones for the kick drum and toms/snare, allowing you to add your own carefully selected overheads to complete your drum micing ensemble. Taking care of the kick drum is the Shure Beta 52 microphone, that is also favoured by many in the recording community for bass guitar cabs. 3 of the most versatile microphones around are also included, the Shure SM57, along with 3 A56D drum mounting systems allowing for quick and easy set-up. This set, while it doesn't contain overheads, offers a solid foundation to add your own favourites to.

As mentioned with all of the kits above, these mics don't have to be specifically used for drums, meaning each pack provides a wealth of microphones to extend your studio's arsenal, making you much more prepared for the variety that the modern musical world can throw at you, at a much reduced priced compared with purchasing them separately.

When in the project studio, be it your bedroom, or anywhere else in your home, the room will undoubtedly impart its own unique spacial qualities onto the sound, quite often to the detriment of your recording. The usual go to object to help sort this out is a duvet or a mattress to deaden the area, creating a makeshift vocal booth, which quite a lot of time, isn't worth all the hassle and rigmarole.

The more convenient, professional, ultimately more effective option has been brought to the fore in the form of the sE Electronics Reflexion filter series, with 2 models available depending on your budget.

The reflexion filter system clamps easily and conveniently onto your mic stand and provides you with a perfectly 'dead' acoustic space perfect for a variety of instruments and vocals, allowing you to make professional sounding recordings, wherever you are.

After receiving rave reviews in almost all major music technology publications this great product has been seen to pop up in major studios across the world, not just project studios, to provide that intimate, in your face sound that works so well.

Take a hint from the professionals and take your recordings to the next level, give  Millennium's Hi-Tech department a call on 0845 555 7070 and we can discuss these great products in more detail.
